Disseminated Granuloma Annulare: Case report and review of the literature

Abstract

Granuloma annulare (GA) is a benign, chronic dermatosis very frequent in childhood and adulthood. It is characterized by annular bordered nodules and plaques affecting more trunk and extremities. The causes are unknown, but certain potential predisposing factors such as trauma, insect bites, vaccinations, sun exposure and certain drugs are reported to predispose to the development of the disease. In addition, GA is related to certain diseases, mainly obesity and dyslipidemias. There are 4 types of GA. A definitive treatment for GA is still unknown, since there are multiple undefined therapeutic reports due to the lack of scientific evidence. We present the case of a 55-year-old patient with papules and annular border plaques on the arm, neck and trunk, with a diagnosis of disseminated granuloma annulare.
