Necrobiosis lipoidica in an adolescent girl: A case report

Abstract

Necrobiosis lipoidica (NL) is an unusual chronic disease of unknown cause. It affects more women than men, and it has been related to diabetes mellitus, although it can occur in people without this pathology. It manifests as atrophic plaques, with an active border, asymptomatic, generally located in the pretibial region. The diagnosis is clinical, and its treatment is very varied with few favorable results. We describe the case of an adolescent girl with diabetes mellitus treated with excimer laser.
